After graduating from Bell Gardens High, I received my Bachelor of Arts from the California State University Long Beach. I’m a long-time resident of the city of Whittier, where my wife of seventeen years, Maria, and three young children live.
During the 1990’s, I worked as a fundraiser and membership recruiter for the Boy Scouts of America in the San Gabriel Valley and the Metro Los Angeles area. In early 1995, I moved to the office of Mayor Richard J. Riordan in the City of Los Angeles, where I was influenced by the local government rules and procedures and how it delivers services to the general population daily. I worked as a liaison for the departments of Fire, Police, Parks, Library and Animal Regulations primarily to make sure that government worked for its residents in delivering the services in a more effective and efficient manner.
